Commitment
Good afternoon bloggers! How is your Fall doing with you? I am enjoying the weather and colors with pleasure.
What is new with you? You will never guess what's new with me! Take a guess, any guess....Give up?
Alright, I'll tell you! Starting on Monday October 8th 2012 I have started something.
God has challenged me with a commitment. A commitment to stay off of sugar for one WHOLE year.
"Why?!" you ask.
Well, because to be honest I find myself craving it everyday. And God challenged me to give it up for Him, and to fill that now empty spot with reading my Bible. No, not just reading my Bible, but He challenged me with committing to read the whole entire Bible. Genesis 1 all the way to Revelation 22.
And I started on the 8th. I don't know if it will really take me a whole year to read through the whole Bible or just a few months. I guess it depends on how much I read it during the day.
Instead of craving for more sugar I want to crave His Word which is even better and even sweeter than sugar.
Yep, the first few days have been reallyyyy hard staying away from fresh cookies my sister made or whatever the baked goods might be, but it is totally worth it don't you think? I will be sooooo much more healthy, I won't crave something odd like sugar anymore but I will be craving and hungering more of God's Great Word, I think I will be more self-controlled after this when there is a cookie sitting in front of me just waiting for me to eat it, I will be learning so much more of God's amazing love and truth and will be growing that much more in love in Him and will be desiring Him more.
So that is why I am doing this challenge God has set before me and committing myself to doing this!
It hasn't been that long since I've started and I am already craving for more of God's Word. Cool, eh?
Well, keep me in my prayers that I will not grow tired of this or give up on it, but I will be strengthened by God to do this.
See ya later everyone!
God bless!
A Servant 4 Christ,
Lizzie
Wow, you are brave! It's awesome that you're striving to cut things out of your life in order to know God more. I've been reading my Bible through chronologically this year and i love it!!! I've read it before normally which was good, but chronologically has made such a difference to me.
ReplyDeleteKeep it up! God will reward you for seeking Him. "And you will seek Me and find Me, when you search for Me with all your heart." (Isaiah 65:1)
But don't be discouraged if you fail with the sugar thing... knowing Him is most important and that's what you're working toward! :)
Oh, wow! This is a huge commitment! I'll be praying, Lizzie!

Emily.
